Really? Don’t we have enough problems with water quality in Louisiana to be mis-directed with a new issue, i.e., we should be worried about the Gulf oil spill primarily?
It is ridiculous to burden the Lousiana farmer with a tax on water which is under most circumstances never in short supply in this state. In fact, on our farm we have actually reduced our fuel pumping costs by utilizing surface water instead of underground aquifer water supplies. Shouldn’t that count as “green” points and be rewarded instead of penalized?
